Passionate Mondays

Today I am feeling passionate about fearlessness.

This is an Indian mudra for fearlessness. Every time I use this hand position, or mudra, I feel fearless. My hand is relaxed and open. I am ready to receive and handle whatever comes my way in an open and calm manner. I also feel protected, with my hand in front of me, so that I can go through my fears, knowing that I am safe, eventually reaching the other side of the fear having received lessons and knowledge. Try it. What do you feel?

“The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have.” - Louis Boone

“A ship in port is safe, but that’s not what ships are built for.” - Grace Murray Hopper

And this one I picked up from my dear friend Brian, who is one of the most fearless people I know and a real role model for me in my pursuit of fearlessness and passion. Tanti auguri, Brian Lane!:

“May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your rivers…meander through pastoral valleys tinkling with bells, past temples and castles and poets’ towers into a dark primeval forest where tigers belch and monkeys howl…”
-Edward Abbey

May you have a fearless and passionate Monday!

I like mudras. They work, they really do. When I put my hand in this position it makes me feel powerful. I guess that would be the opposite of fearful.

That is so very wonderful.

I held my hand out... my immediate response was 'well I feel in my bones that the weather is lousy'.. ha ha... but then I got into it and it's pretty nice!
Saw your points immediately.

I'm so glad you showed us this!
Thanks!

AV - Or, said another way, if we are not learning, we are not living.

Bec - you are most welcome and I'm glad you got it.

Ok Jeni, I have to admit that when I saw the photo, the first thing to pop into my head is that other, more defiant, hand position where you "Talk to the Hand" (eyeball and head roll included).

So I tried doing this your way but think that maybe it's best when there isn't anything around to distract me like this here pc, the tv, and mp3 blasting away in the background.

On another note, I read your post on Verdicchio! I prefer the one from Castelli di Jesi, and I swear, not because my last name is Castelli, but because I love how it compares to the version from Matelica. Great post!

Rowena - How funny about the "other meaning" for that hand mudra. Do try it in another frame of mind and see if it changes how you feel. Oh, and I'm glad you liked the Verdicchio review.

Sognatrice - Endless passions!!!

Jeena - thanks you...I'll be right over to visit your blog.

Me too. Like Rowena I thought, "talk to the hand cause the face don't understand" haha
I love the quotes. One of them I gave to my son many years ago on a plaque. Great post.

Maryann - funny how we can see different meanings in same image, isn't it? I love those quotes too!

And this one.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but the conquest of it.

Spotted on a pillow case in the army base tonight.
